DARE Program

DARE, the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, is available in Norfolk County communities through a cooperative commitment between Sheriff Michael Bellotti's Office and local police departments. DARE is an intensive 17-week program designed to teach middle school children values, decision-making skills, self-esteem, respect for the law and peer resistance.

Every year, Sheriff Bellotti awards each of Norfolk County's 28 communities a $1,000 DARE grant to supplement local DARE budgets. Additionally, the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office has a trained, fulltime DARE officer to work in towns that are unable to fund their own DARE officer. The Sheriff's DARE Officer organizes and teaches DARE programs and also attends safety fairs across the county and provides fingerprinting demonstrations and other educational activities for children.

Sherrif Bellotti

From the Sheriff:

"Young people are the future of our communities, and a resource we must protect. The Norfolk County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to this goal. And through my education and youth development program, we are reaching at-risk children before they land in court or behind bars."
