K-9 Unit
Sheriff Bellotti's K-9 Unit is a nationally certified division of officers and
their canine partners who are trained in suspect apprehension, drug detection
and missing person searches. The teams of two officers and three German
shepherds also participate in community-based K-9 demonstrations all across
Norfolk County.
Every year, Sheriff Bellotti's K-9 Unit responds to hundreds of requests from local communities and participates in regular training and competitions.
All two of the canines are now fitted with bulletproof vests, just like their
human handlers, thanks to the money-raising efforts of local children sponsored
by Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping
police dogs safe.
Requests for K-9 services can be made by calling the Sheriff's Office at
781-751-3414. After normal business hours call 781-329-3705 extension 1335.
