MARCH Program
In his ongoing mission to reach young people, Sheriff Bellotti runs the Managing At-Risk Children (MARCH) program in the City of Quincy. The
program identifies and helps troubled children before they develop problems
with drugs and criminal activities.
The goal of the program is to reduce juvenile delinquency in Quincy through
community-based services that provide individual attention to at-risk youth.
MARCH is a collaboration with Quincy Police, Quincy Public Schools and other
public agencies whose aim is to help troubled youth. Children are identified at
confidential monthly roundtable meetings where caseworkers share information
about specific youth in the community and make referrals.
With the cooperation of parents and family, those children are enrolled in the
MARCH program, which includes a "holistic," family-approach to counseling with
a certified therapist, a tour of the Norfolk County Correctional Facility (if
recommended), interaction with "peer-educator" inmates (if recommended), an
eight-week counseling program and a therapist-designed post-counseling
treatment plan that connects the child with appropriate community services.
