The Youth Leadership Academy is more than a recreational camp for kids. It is designed to help youths age 10-to-14 develop the crucial skills needed in the modern world. Using a specially designed low and high ropes course, participants in the academy learn to overcome challenges and then reflect on what they learned and the skills they needed for those challenges. This helps children set goals and come up with strategies on how to achieve these goals. The high ropes course offers a more personal challenge and involves climbs of up to 40 feet in the air while wearing safety equipment. Participants are never forced to climb. Everything is presented as Challenge-By-Choice, which means the participants choose their own goal and push themselves to get there, which is a great way to improve self-confidence and personal goal-setting and ambition.
